DESCRIPTION:Peak District Explorers \nGeography Fieldwork Visit to Macclesfield Forest \nYear 5 \n29/04/2025 \nPupils in Year 5 will be embarking on a Geography \ntrip to the stunning Peak District National Park for a \nday filled with adventure and learning. This is a \nfantastic chance for our children to develop their \nGeography skills while enjoying the great outdoors. \nThe trip will kick off with an indoor session where the \nchildren will compare maps and aerial photos of the \nlocal area. They’ll have the chance to create their \nown simple maps\, helping them grasp the concept of \na ‘Bird’s Eye view’. After their indoor activities\, we’ll \nhead outside to explore! In the open air\, the children \nwill draw their own maps and learn about the eight \npoints of a compass\, a vital skill for any budding \nexplorer. Additionally\, there will be a set up of a \nsimple orienteering course on the grounds\, where \nthey can practice their map-reading skills in a fun\, \nhands-on environment. \nFurther details of this exciting opportunity will be \navailable on Arbor.

For an exhilarating 30 minutes\, \nthey will take control of the remarkable 2-metre \nwide telescope\, capturing stunning real-time \nphotographs of the universe. As the telescope \ngazes into the cosmos\, pupils will have the chance \nto engage with expert astronomers\, asking \nquestions and deepening their cosmic knowledge. \nIt’s an adventure not to be missed!
