DESCRIPTION:Discovery Recycling Centre Visit Year 6 \n09/07/25 & 10/07/25 \n6 Churchill (Mrs Taylor) 09/07/25 \n6 Gandhi (Miss Ward) 10/07/25 \nChildren in Year 6 will visit the Discovery Recycling Centre in our local area to further support their learning in their Design Technology for the Summer Term\, with a focus on the use of recyclable materials. \nAt the centre\, pupils will discover what they can do at home to recycle\, what we mean by contamination\, the journey of recycling from their homes to its final destination and take part in a unique tour of the Materials Recovery Facility where they will see recycling in action. \nFurther information on this visit will follow via Arbor.

DESCRIPTION:LSSP & Literacy Kick Sports Journalism Sessions Year 5 & Year 6 \n10/07/25 \nIn July\, our pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 will be joined by the team from Literacy Kicks\, in collaboration with LSSP and the World Boxing Championships\, due to be held in Liverpool in October 2025\, to develop their understanding of the role of a sports journalist. \nIn this exciting workshop\, the pupils will learn all about the skills required to become a journalist in this field\, as well as have the opportunity to ask lots of questions and get the chance to write their own article! \n\nWe are sure this event will be inspirational to all of our pupils.

The team will be on hand to offer guidance and advice on the following: \n\nAnxieties\, the things children worry about and what you can do to help\nWhat parents worry about and how you can help your child prepare for change\nTeen Development\, friendships\, social media and staying safe\nDealing with high emotion and restoring relationships after challenge\nHow to encourage family containment\nThe first few weeks and settling in\nWhere else to get information and further reading\n\nFurther information will follow from Mrs Berry\, our Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead\, and Mrs Taylor\, our Phase 3 Lead via Arbor.
