DESCRIPTION:The ‘Help Your Child Thrive’ programme is coming to Barlows Primary School from Monday 3rd November to help you to support your child with their learning and development at home. This course runs every Monday morning in school for 5 sessions just after you drop your child off at the start of the school day. \nThe course gives you an insight into what your child will be learning in Reception and KS1. Each week you’ll receive lots of practical tips and ideas as to how to help your child develop skills in communication and language\, personal\, social and emotional wellbeing\, physical development\, literacy and maths. You will be given a booklet full of resources and ideas for fun games to play with your child at home which will help them to thrive in school. The festival is a fantastic initiative aimed at inspiring students through film\, helping to enhance their creativity\, and fostering a love for storytelling. \nAs part of the festival\, our Year 3 & 4 classes will be attending screenings designed to engage their imaginations and will link to work back in school. The children will attend the screening of If\, a film full of delightful characters\, ‘IF’ is a heartfelt story about family\, friendship\, and growing up. \nYear 3 & 4  \nWednesday 19/11/2025 – IF \nWe have some spaces for parents and carers to join us on the trip\, details will follow via Arbor.

The untold story of the witches of Oz stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba\, a young woman\, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin\, who has yet to discover her true power\, and Ariana Grande as Glinda\, a popular young woman\, gilded by privilege\, who has yet to discover her true heart. DESCRIPTION:Reception Classes will be engaging in a series of Balanceability Sessions as part of their PE lessons. These sessions\, expertly delivered by coaches from LSSP\, aim to enhance children’s essential balance skills. \n  \nBalanceability is a foundational programme designed to prepare young learners for riding a bicycle. During these dynamic lessons\, children will develop not only their physical coordination but also their confidence as they encounter various balancing activities. By mastering these skills early on\, our students will significantly improve their readiness for cycling.

DESCRIPTION:As part of their personal development education\, we are pleased to announce that Year 5 and 6 pupils will be attending an online career conversation with Izzy Haines\, a Social Values and Net Carbon Zero Consultant. \nThe primary objective of this session is to expose our students to various career pathways and to help them understand the importance of setting goals and aspirations for their future. \nThe online session which is being hosted by Positive \nFutures as part of our Positive Futures Careers Aspiration Programme\, will engage students in discussions about the skills and attributes needed in today’s job market. \nThis initiative is designed to inspire and empower our students as they begin to consider their futures beyond primary education. \nWe encourage you to discuss this opportunity with your child and to support them in reflecting on their own interests and potential careers they may wish to explore.

The sessions will take place on Tuesday 18/11/25 and Thursday 20/11/25. \nDr Hill brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of archaeology\, particularly focusing on prehistoric societies. \nDuring this engaging workshop\, students will have the chance to learn about the Stone Age\, including its culture\, tools\, and significant developments. \nDr Hill will employ a hands-on approach\, allowing students to interact with artefacts and participate in activities that illustrate the daily lives of our ancestors. \nThis is a fantastic opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding from an expert in the field!

SUMMARY:Help Your Child Thrive Parent and Carer Programme
DESCRIPTION:The ‘Help Your Child Thrive’ programme is coming to Barlows Primary School from Monday 3rd November to help you to support your child with their learning and development at home. This course runs every Monday morning in school for 5 sessions just after you drop your child off at the start of the school day. \nThe course gives you an insight into what your child will be learning in Reception and KS1. Each week you’ll receive lots of practical tips and ideas as to how to help your child develop skills in communication and language\, personal\, social and emotional wellbeing\, physical development\, literacy and maths. You will be given a booklet full of resources and ideas for fun games to play with your child at home which will help them to thrive in school. The course is also a good chance to meet other parents and get to know a bit more about school. \nSessions will run from 9:30am – 11:30am on the following dates: \nMonday 03/11/25 \nMonday 10/11/25 \nMonday 17/11/25 \nMonday 24/11/25 \nMonday 02/12/25 \nPlaces are limited so please keep an eye out on Arbor for sign up details.
