School Council Visit to London and the Houses of Parliament

In February 2019, the school Parliament, had the opportunity to take a special trip to London to learn more about British rule and democracy. The children had the opportunity to visit a number of important sites including:

  • The Houses of Parliament
  • Buckingham Palace
  • Nelson’s Column
  • Big Ben
  • 10 Downing Street
  • Trafalgar Square
  • Westminster Abbey

They even managed to fit in a trip to the London Science Museum and Natural History Museum.

During the afternoon, pupils were taken on a special tour of the Houses of Parliament and had the opportunity to sit in on two live debates, one in House of Commons and one in the House of Lords.

A special visit from Cllr. Dan Carden

During the workshop, the children received a special visit from their local councillor, Dan Carden, who was working at the Houses of Parliament that day.
