Employment of additional Teaching Assistant to deliver a lunchtime dance club The funding pays for a specialist dance teacher to come into school every day and work with children from across KS2(including groups of G&T) to provide 45 minute dance lessons every lunchtime and also extra sessions to prepare for competitions and performances as required. She also works with year 2 children teaching dance and reception children doing Tumble Tots once a week. The children are much more confident in Dance & Movement skills and the lunchtime classes are popular and very well attended. The children have won prizes and commendations in Dance Festivals involving other schools and were invited to perform at the International Business Festival held in Liverpool. £2,000
Lancashire cricket The funding pays for a specialist cricket coach (Dave Goodall, Lancashire County Cricket Club) to come into school for 2 half terms to work with two different year groups developing cricket skills. This is part og the ‘Chance to Shine’ project. It is also enables the children to access Level 2 competitions run in conjunction with Lancashire CCC. We have had visits from two Youth International Cricketers from the West Indies which the children enjoyed and provided them with role models to aspire to. The children are taught how to throw and catch properly as well as the technical skills needed to strike a ball accurately. Last year the children who accessed the coaching took part in three tournaments and gave an excellent account of themselves in each one – the year 4 children even played against children a year older. £650
