To enhance the children’s understanding of life in India, parents of some of our Year 5 pupils spent the afternoon in school talking about what life is like in India, their experiences of growing up there and how employment opportunities differ from England. From this, the children gained an understanding of the different cultures and beliefs people have in different regions of India. They were particularly surprised to hear that many children their age enjoy playing cricket in India (not football!) and were shocked to learn that not all of India has a hot climate!
As part of their involvement in the exciting and cultural Opera Project based on the animation ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’ written by Leoš Janáček Year 5 had the opportunity to work alongside a team of professionals who specialise in different areas within the Creative Art industry. During the week, children gained an understanding of the many careers this industry has to offer, from: performing arts, drama, sound production, project management and costume and stage design. This week has broadened the children’s perception of what alternative careers they could go into following school life.
