Geography Fieldwork Visit to Macclesfield Forest

Year 5

29/04/2025

Pupils in Year 5 will be embarking on a Geography

trip to the stunning Peak District National Park for a

day filled with adventure and learning. This is a

fantastic chance for our children to develop their

Geography skills while enjoying the great outdoors.

The trip will kick off with an indoor session where the

children will compare maps and aerial photos of the

local area. They’ll have the chance to create their

own simple maps, helping them grasp the concept of

a ‘Bird’s Eye view’. After their indoor activities, we’ll

head outside to explore! In the open air, the children

will draw their own maps and learn about the eight

points of a compass, a vital skill for any budding

explorer. Additionally, there will be a set up of a

simple orienteering course on the grounds, where

they can practice their map-reading skills in a fun,

hands-on environment.

Further details of this exciting opportunity will be

available on Arbor.
